Over 3,000 new Covid-19 patients confirmed in 47 localities

An additional 3,461 Covid-19 infections were confirmed in 47 out of 63 localities in Vietnam on Wednesday, according to a report from the Ministry of Health.

According to the ministry’s report, 3,458 of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 47 localities including HCM City (1,162), Binh Duong (501), Dong Nai (486), Ha Giang (152), An Giang (121), Dak Lak (113), and Dong Thap (87). There were three imported patients confirmed today.

The new infections showed an increase of 519 cases compared to yesterday’s figure. There were 1,432 infections found in the community.

As of Wednesday evening, 845,050 infections have been reported since the new outbreak occurred in the country in late April. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include HCM City (413,835), Binh Duong (223,476), Dong Nai (56,475), Long An (33,508), and Tien Giang (14,702). The outbreak has so far spread to 62 out of 63 cities and provinces nationwide.

With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 849,691. The country now stands 41st among 223 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections.

On October 13, an additional 1,191 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 787,286.

On Wednesday evening, a further 106 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 20,869. The deaths were reported in some localities including HCM City (73), Binh Duong (18), Long An (4), Dong Nai (4), Tien Giang (3), Can Tho (1), An Giang (1), Dong Thap (1), and Quang Tri (1).

The country has so far conducted over 56.33 million Covid-19 vaccine shots, with over 16.49 million people having received two doses.
