HCMC – Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam received the second dose of the Nano Covax vaccine, developed by HCMC-based Nanogen Pharmaceutical Biotechnology JSC, at a trial inoculation session of the Vietnam Military Medical Academy this morning, March 26.
The Deputy PM got his first shot of the locally-made vaccine on February 26, the local media reported.
In the second phase of the human trial of the vaccine, the academy gave over 60 volunteers the second shot to measure safety and to confirm that it stimulates the immune system, said Professor Dr. Do Quyet, head of the academy.
The second phase is expected to finish in late April this year. The academy will then report the results of the human trial of the vaccine to the Ministry of Health and seek approval for the vaccine.
Earlier, Deputy PM Dam had suggested shortening the human trial of the Covid-19 vaccines to launch them in the market soon.
